Saturday 4 March 2006

Wotton continued their recent run of good form with a fantastic win against local rivals Wickwar. Although Wickwar started well, Wotton's defence managed to hold out and as the game progressed Wotton began to take control of the midfield. A fine first half hat-trick by on form striker Matthew Gosling gave Wotton a comfortable lead at the break. Wotton were unstoppable in the second half and although not on the scoresheet midfielder Archie Bennett created most of Wotton's goals. With Charlie Read scoring a superb second half hat-trick, Matthew Gosling adding a further two goals and Thomas Cullum heading in a Ted Adams corner rounding off an impressive Wotton team performance.

Wotton Rovers U10s 7 - 3 Frampton U10s

Saturday 10 September 2005

Wotton dominated the first half with defenders William Fuller and Jack Hayward in fantastic form and midfielder Arthur Bennett wining every tackle in the middle of the pitch. Goals by Thomas Cullum, Charlie Read and two for prolific striker Matthew Gosling should of given Wotton a deserved 4 - 0 half time lead but on the stroke of half time Frampton scored from a corner.

Frampton improved in the second half but could not stop further Wotton goals by Ted Adams, Charlie Read and one from Matthew Gosling to complete his Hat-trick. Hard working Frampton never gave up and added two goals to their score-line but Wotton always looked comfortable and deservedly ran out winners.

Forest Green Rovers U10s 2 - 3 Wotton Rovers U10s

Saturday 3 September 2005

Wotton began this years campaign with a well deserved win against a strong Forest Green Rovers team. The teams were evenly matched in the early exchanges but Wotton broke the deadlock after Charlie Read crossed the ball from the right to Mathew Gosling who calmly slotted the ball past the diving Forest Green Keeper. Forest Green hastily made changes which immediately made an impact with the substitute cleverly creating the equaliser.

Wotton changed formation and quickly regained the upper hand and the lead when Cameron Smith found Ted Adams who knocked the ball down to Mathew Gosling to rifle the ball into the back of the net. Wotton's defensive formation of William Fuller, Jack Hayward and Arthur Bennett were outstanding in the second half and it took a special individual goal by the Forest Green centre forward to again bring the scores level. Wotton were creating chance after chance in the second half as Forest Green tried to push forward and it was not long before Wotton regained the lead. Charlie Reed found himself free on the right wing and raced towards the goal and rather than crossing he cleverly deceived the Forest Green Keeper firing a shot inside the near post.
